Biography:

Doctor Octopus, often shortened to Doc Ock, is a prominent character in the Marvel Universe.

He first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #3.

Otto Octavius was a brilliant physicist and nuclear researcher who created a set of powerful, remotely controlled mechanical arms to assist him in his work. During an experiment gone wrong, Octavius was exposed to radiation, which permanently fused the arms to his body and warped his mind.

Driven insane by the accident, he embraced his new form and turned to a life of crime, becoming Doctor Octopus, a recurring foe of Spider-Man.

In the Ultimate Spider-Man comic book series, Otto Octavius' origins are similar. The character is portrayed as Peter Parker's idol with Peter being an intern at his lab.
